Album
Thunderball
Thunderball is the twenty-eighth studio album from Melvins, issued under the alias Melvins 1983. It came out on 18 April 2025 through Ipecac Recordings, and it was released on CD, vinyl and digital formats. The label has long been home to the band's sludge metal, so it sits comfortably in the catalogue.
It arrives late in a career that began with Gluey Porch Treatments in 1987, and follows a busy few years that brought Tarantula Heart and Twins of Evil in 2024. The new name is a nod to the band's earliest era, which makes this one a curious companion piece to that long run of records. Anyone who enjoys how restless and prolific Melvins have been will find it worth putting on.
