Steven McDonald
Steven McDonald is an EP by the Melvins, released in 2017 on Amphetamine Reptile Records. It arrived in the middle of a busy stretch for the band, sitting alongside Basses Loaded in 2016 and A Walk with Love & Death in 2017, at a time when they were putting out records at a remarkable rate.
The title nods to a bassist whose name may be familiar from elsewhere in the rock world, and that fits a band who have long enjoyed shuffling their line-ups and collaborators. For anyone who has followed the Melvins since Gluey Porch Treatments in 1987, it's a small but telling piece of their later catalogue, and a handy way into their restless, collaborative side.
