Lysol

Lysol is the fourth studio album by the American band Melvins, released in 1992 on Boner Records. It sits between Bullhead and Houdini in their catalogue, and it also turns up under the names Melvins, Untitled and Lice-All. The record sits in the territory where sludge metal, drone metal and noise rock meet.

Its six separate tracks were mastered and assembled as one "megacomposition", so it works best heard as a single long piece. Alongside the originals are covers of Flipper's "Sacrifice" and two Alice Cooper songs from Love It to Death, "Second Coming" and "The Ballad of Dwight Fry". The album has been credited as an influence on drone doom and on Sunn O))), which makes it a useful stop for anyone tracing where that heavy, slow sound came from.
