Album
Nightmare
Nightmare is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released on 23 July 2010 through Warner Bros. Records. Mike Elizondo produced it, Andy Wallace mixed it in New York City and Ted Jensen mastered it. It sits between the self-titled 2007 record and 2013's Hail to the King, and it blends heavy metal, alternative metal and hard rock.
It is also the band's first record made without drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, who died in December 2009. Some of his writing made it into the final recordings, and his vocal takes remain on the album as a tribute. Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy played the remaining drums and toured with the band through the end of 2010. The cover carries its own tribute: a tombstone reading "FOREVER", with "REV" picked out. Nightmare entered the US Billboard 200 at number one and went Platinum in the US and Canada.
