Vault: Def Leppard Greatest Hits 1980–1995
Vault: Def Leppard Greatest Hits 1980–1995 was the Sheffield band's first greatest hits album, arriving in October 1995 on Bludgeon Riffola. It gathers material from across their run through the 1980s and early 90s, though the track listing varied from region to region, and none of the versions dipped into their 1980 debut, On Through the Night. The one new song was "When Love & Hate Collide", which came out as a single shortly before the album.
It proved a big seller. Vault is certified 5× platinum in the US, where it passed five million copies in 2011, and it took Metal Edge's 1995 Readers' Choice Award for best hits or compilation album. To launch it, the band played acoustic shows in Tangiers, London and Vancouver on a single day, a feat that earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. A handy way into the Pyromania and Hysteria years.
