Album
State of Euphoria
State of Euphoria is the fourth studio album by the American metal band Anthrax, released in September 1988 on Island. It followed Among the Living, the record that had broken the band through, and it went on to do even better commercially, though it was received less warmly by critics.
It sits at an interesting point in the New York band's story, coming after a run of albums that took them from the raw speed of Fistful of Metal to wider recognition, and before Persistence of Time in 1990. Its mix of speed, thrash and heavy metal makes it a useful record for hearing how the band followed a breakthrough, and for judging for yourself how the critics' verdict stacks up.
