From Enslavement to Obliteration
From Enslavement to Obliteration is the second studio album by Napalm Death, the English grindcore band, released on 17 September 1988 through Earache Records. It follows Scum from 1987 and marks a changing of the guard. It is the last record to feature vocalist Lee Dorrian and guitarist Bill Steer, and the first to include bassist Shane Embury, who has since become the band's longest-serving member.
The record is worth hearing for how it pairs deep, guttural growls with high-pitched screeches over blast beats, making it one of the earliest albums to combine those elements. Loudwire later named it among the ten best metal albums of 1988. A remastered edition followed on 2 April 2012, giving a fresh way into a key moment in the band's story.
