The Code Is Red… Long Live the Code
Napalm Death's eleventh studio album, The Code Is Red… Long Live the Code, was recorded at Foel Studio in Llanfair Caereinion with producer Russ Russell. It came out in 2005, following Leaders Not Followers: Part 2 and ahead of Smear Campaign. The band play grindcore with strong death metal and deathgrind leanings, and this record sits comfortably in that territory.
Guests are part of the appeal: Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys, Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed and Jeffrey Walker of Carcass all appear. "Silence Is Deafening" was given a video, directed by Roger Johansson, later in the year. Some editions added a bonus disc of tracks from other death metal acts, including Aborted, with the Napalm Death song opening it. Decibel later inducted the album into its Hall of Fame, as part of a 2017 issue marking the band's thirtieth anniversary.
