Wages of Sin
Wages of Sin is the fourth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, released in April 2001. It arrived after Black Earth, Stigmata and Burning Bridges, and it marks a real turning point: this is the first Arch Enemy record to feature vocalist Angela Gossow, who took over the band's frontline.
It is also the first album the band recorded in C tuning, a lower setting they have kept using across their later records. That makes it a useful starting point for anyone tracing how the group's sound settled into the heavier shape that carried through Anthems of Rebellion, Doomsday Machine and beyond. Japan got the album first, with European and American listeners following in March 2002.
