Even If and Especially When
Even If and Especially When is the second studio album by Screaming Trees, the band from Ellensburg, Washington. It came out on 28 March 1987, following their debut Clairvoyance from 1986, and it was their first record for SST Records. The US release is listed as 1987.
The album sits at the point where the band's psychedelic rock leanings meet the rougher edge of what would come to be called grunge. It is the starting point of their SST years and a useful marker on the road that led to Invisible Lantern, Buzz Factory and, later, Sweet Oblivion. If you want to hear where the Trees were before the bigger records, this is a good place to begin.
