Anthology: SST Years 1985-1989
Anthology: SST Years 1985-1989 is Screaming Trees' first compilation, gathering their work for SST Records. It came out on 16 July 1991, roughly six months after Uncle Anesthesia, their major label debut on Epic. The band had no hand in putting it together, since they had already left SST by then.
The track listing draws on four releases: three songs from the Other Worlds EP, and six each from Even If and Especially When, Invisible Lantern and Buzz Factory. That makes it a handy way into the neo-psychedelic, grunge-leaning rock the group made before their move to a bigger label, and a useful companion for anyone who came to them through Uncle Anesthesia and wants to hear where they started.
