Sweet Oblivion
Sweet Oblivion is the sixth studio album by Screaming Trees, released on 8 September 1992 on Epic. It followed Uncle Anesthesia from 1991 and arrived around the time original drummer Mark Pickerel left to pursue other musical interests. Barrett Martin took his place behind the kit.
It became the band's best-selling record and the closest they came to mainstream success, selling more than 300,000 copies. The driving force was "Nearly Lost You", their biggest hit, which gained a boost from featuring on the Singles soundtrack, a platinum-selling Top Ten album that gathered many of Seattle's best-known acts. Nearly four years passed before the follow-up, Dust, and that gap cost the band much of their momentum, which makes this record the high point of their story.
