Hold Your Fire
Hold Your Fire is the twelfth studio album by Rush, the Canadian progressive rock band, and it came out on 8 September 1987. It followed Power Windows and sat in the stretch of the 1980s when the trio leaned into a polished, melodic rock sound. The sessions moved around: The Manor Studio in Oxfordshire, Ridge Farm Studio in Surrey, AIR Studios in Montserrat and McClear Place in Toronto.
The standout guest is Aimee Mann of 'Til Tuesday, who sings on "Time Stand Still" and appears in its video, directed by Zbigniew Rybczyński. The album peaked at number 13 on the Billboard chart, a lower placing than most of the band's 1980s records, and the lowest for a Rush album since Hemispheres in 1978. It was later certified Gold by the RIAA. It was also the last Rush studio album released outside Canada by PolyGram/Mercury, which gives it a place in the band's story beyond the music.
