Album
Power Windows
Power Windows is Rush's eleventh studio album, released in October 1985. It follows Grace Under Pressure from 1984 and pushes further into synthesizer-led territory, adding sampling, electronic drums, a string section and a choir to the band's sound. Power is the running lyrical theme, which gives the record a focused, connected feel.
The band recorded it in Montserrat and England, with Peter Collins co-producing and Andy Richards adding extra keyboards. It reached No. 5 in Canada, No. 9 in the UK and No. 10 in the US, and went platinum in the States by January 1986. Two singles came from it, "The Big Money" and "Mystic Rhythms". It's a good place to hear Rush at their most keyboard-minded, still firmly a progressive rock band.
