Chronicles
Chronicles is a double-disc compilation from the Canadian rock band Rush, released on 4 September 1990. It was the first Rush album to appear in the 1990s, and it was put together without the band's involvement. The set gathers material from across their career, which by then ran through the stages of hard rock, progressive rock and heavy metal that mark their catalogue.
It sits between Presto, from 1989, and Roll the Bones, from 1991, so it works as a pause in the band's studio story. A companion video collection followed on VHS and laserdisc on 23 October 1990, covering Rush promotional films from 1981 to 1987. It was reissued on a single DVD in 2001 with two hidden extra tracks. For anyone wanting a broad overview of the band, this is a ready-made way in.
