Different Stages Live
Different Stages is a triple live album from the Canadian band Rush, released on 10 November 1998. Most of the first two discs come from a show at the World Music Theatre in Tinley Park, Illinois, on the 1997 Test for Echo tour, with five more songs from other dates on that run and three from the 1994 Counterparts tour. The third disc steps back to 1978, with a Hammersmith Odeon performance from the A Farewell to Kings tour.
It arrived at a painful time. Neil Peart had lost his daughter Selena in 1997 and his wife Jacqueline the following year, and he told his bandmates to consider him retired. Geddy Lee and producer Paul Northfield put the set together without him, and for Lee and Alex Lifeson it might have been the band's last word. The album is dedicated to Selena and Jacqueline, with lines from "Afterimage" in the packaging. The full 1978 show later appeared on the 2017 A Farewell to Kings anniversary edition.
