The Uplift Mofo Party Plan
The Uplift Mofo Party Plan is the third studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on 29 September 1987. It is the only record on which all four founding members play on every track: Anthony Kiedis on vocals, Flea on bass, Hillel Slovak on guitar and Jack Irons on drums. Producer Michael Beinhorn pushed the band to widen their range, so the trademark funk rock picks up touches of reggae and heavy metal. Flea later called it the "rockingest" record they have made.
It was a step up for the band, both with critics and in the shops, and became their first album to enter the Billboard 200, reaching number 148. "Fight Like a Brave" was the single. It was also the last album with Slovak, who died of a heroin overdose in 1988, and the only full-length one with Irons, who left soon afterwards.
