Buzz Factory
Buzz Factory is the fourth studio album by Seattle band Screaming Trees, released on 19 April 1989 through SST Records. It was the last record they made for the label, and it came out on translucent purple vinyl, a nice touch for a hard rock record from the Pacific North-West.
The story around it is as interesting as the music. While the band toured to support the album, SST repeatedly told them it was about to appear, yet copies only turned up on the final day of the tour. That was enough for Screaming Trees to walk away from the label. Their next release, the Change Has Come EP, followed on Sub Pop in December 1989, and the band's major label debut came later. For anyone tracing how the group moved from the independent scene towards wider attention, this is the record that closes that first chapter.
