…Twice Shy
…Twice Shy is the fifth studio album by Great White, released in April 1989 on Capitol Records. Sitting between Once Bitten and Hooked in the American band's catalogue, it is where their blues-tinged glam metal found its widest audience. It is also the first record to feature bassist Tony Montana.
The album carries the biggest hits of the band's career. Their cover of Ian Hunter's "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "The Angel Song" climbed to No. 30. "House of Broken Love" drew on the painful break-ups that vocalist Jack Russell and guitarist Mark Kendall had recently been through, which gives it a real emotional weight. The RIAA certified the record double platinum in September 1989. It is a good place to start if you want to hear why Great White broke through.
