Shot in the Dark
Shot in the Dark is the second studio album by American band Great White, released in 1986. It first appeared on Telegraph Records, distributed by Greenworld Entertainment, before Capitol Records picked it up and reissued it later that year. The two versions differ: the original has a different intro to "She Shakes Me" (there titled "Shake Me"), an entirely different recording of "Run Away", and alternative mixes of several tracks.
Musically, it finds the band easing away from the straight heavy metal of their debut towards a bluesier style, with a nod to 1970s heroes such as Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. It is also the first record to feature drummer Audie Desbrow. Covers of The Angels' "Face the Day", one of the band's first well-known hits, and The Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'" are worth seeking out. Steve Hoffman remastered the later CD reissue on Razor & Tie.
