Great White

Great White are an American hard rock band who formed in Los Angeles in 1977. The name nods both to the shark and to guitarist Mark Kendall's old stage nickname. Their sound sits between hard rock and glam metal, and their run of mid-to-late 1980s albums brought them their biggest success, beginning with On Your Knees (The First LP) in 1983 and a self-titled record the following year.

Once Bitten (1987) and ...Twice Shy (1989) both went platinum. "Rock Me" and the title track of ...Twice Shy were heavily played on radio and MTV, and "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" and "The Angel Song" both reached the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40. The band split in 2001, returned in 2006 with other members of the classic line-up, and have kept recording and touring since. Singer Jack Russell left in 2011, and the vocal duties have since passed through several hands.
