Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance is the debut studio album by Screaming Trees, released on 13 February 1986 on Velvetone Records. Steve Fisk produced it, and the record helped the band win a contract with SST Records. It was first pressed in a limited run of 2,500 copies, each with full-size, double-sided inserts, and it returned on CD in January 2005 through Hall of Records.
The sound blends psychedelic rock with garage rock, yet it carries plenty of traits that point towards early grunge, which makes it a fascinating place to start with the band. Fisk later recalled that after finishing the record he tried to book a tour and sent copies to local radio stations, but got little response. In his words, no one wanted to hear about a band from Eastern Washington. It is the first entry in a run of studio albums that continued with Even If and Especially When in 1987.
