The Beginning
The Beginning is a compilation from the Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, released on 24 June 1987. It gathers the Nuns Have No Fun EP together with alternative versions of four tracks from their debut album, Melissa.
It arrived after the band's first run of records, Melissa in 1983 and Don't Break the Oath in 1984, and before their return with In the Shadows in 1993. For anyone who knows the albums, it is a chance to hear the early material in different forms, and the EP gives a fuller picture of where the band started. The material, rather than a new set of songs, is the draw here.
