Into the Unknown
Into the Unknown is the fifth album by the Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, released in August 1996 through Metal Blade Records. It followed Time from 1994 and In the Shadows from 1993, and came two years before Dead Again. The band's sound draws on heavy metal, with black metal also listed among its genres.
It has a place in the band's story that few of their records can claim. It is the only Mercyful Fate album to reach the charts, peaking at No. 31 in Finland and staying in the Top 40 for two weeks. That makes it their most commercially successful record to date, and a worthwhile listen for anyone tracing the band's 1990s chapter.
