Album
Violence Unimagined
Violence Unimagined is the fifteenth studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse, released on 14 April 2021 in Japan, with the worldwide release following on 16 April through Metal Blade Records. It arrived nearly four years after Red Before Black in 2017, the longest gap between two records in the band's career.
The big story here is the line-up. Erik Rutan, a producer who had already been working with the band, appears for the first time as lead guitarist on a Cannibal Corpse studio album. He replaced Pat O'Brien in February 2021, having filled in for him on tour for nearly two years beforehand. For anyone who has followed the band since their early days, it is a record worth hearing to find out how that new partnership sounds, and the album sits between Red Before Black and its successor, Chaos Horrific, in 2023.
