Album
Gore Obsessed
Gore Obsessed is the eighth studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse, released in February 2002 on Metal Blade Records. It follows Bloodthirst from 1999 and comes before The Wretched Spawn in 2004, so it sits right in the middle of the band's long run of records.
The pace shifts throughout, moving between rapid, machine-gun bursts of speed and heavy, chugging mid-tempo passages built for moshing. There's also a cover of Metallica's "No Remorse", a nice nod to the thrash roots that sit behind so much extreme metal. Japanese buyers got an extra treat in the form of a live version of "Compelled to Lacerate" as a bonus track. For anyone who likes their death metal brutal but physical, it's a record that rewards a loud volume.
