Music Through a Cheap Transistor: The BBC Sessions
Music Through a Cheap Transistor: The BBC Sessions gathers five sets Therapy? recorded for BBC radio between 1991 and 1998. The Northern Irish band's compilation first appeared as a download only, released in February 2007, before a double CD followed on 13 August 2007 through Mercury Records. It was among the first titles in Universal's 2007 run of BBC session releases.
It spans much of the band's early and mid-career, from the first John Peel session through the years when they were signed to A&M. You get alternative versions of some of their best-known songs alongside live favourites, plus three tracks not released before: "Pile of Bricks", "The Sweeney" and a cover of Hank Williams' "Lost Highway". Bassist Michael McKeegan has described these as one-off performances that had long survived only on old C-90 tapes and in half-forgotten memories, which is a good reason for fans to seek it out.
