MTV Unplugged
Korn's MTV Unplugged is a live acoustic album that strips back the sound of one of nu metal's best-known American bands. It came out on 5 March 2007 on Virgin, with the US and UK/Europe releases following on 6 March. The record sits between See You on the Other Side from 2005 and the band's untitled eighth studio album, also from 2007, so it arrives at a point when the group were reshaping their approach.
The appeal is in hearing music built on heavy, down-tuned guitars rendered in a quieter, more exposed setting. For anyone who knows Korn only through their louder records, it offers a different way into the band's songs, and a chance to hear how they stand up when the volume is turned down.
