Dead Again
Dead Again is the sixth studio album by the Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, released in June 1998. It was the first record in their catalogue without guitarist Michael Denner, and it arrived after the band's return in the 1990s with In the Shadows, Time and Into the Unknown.
The sound is rougher than on those three predecessors. The production is muddier and more raw, and the guitars carry a more distorted tone. Several tracks also head in a more complex, arguably progressive direction, which gives the album a different feel from the band's earlier work. It is worth hearing if you want to see how Mercyful Fate sounded once the line-up and the studio approach had shifted, and it sits just before the follow-up, 9, in 1999.
