Betty
Betty is the third studio album by American alternative metal band Helmet, released on 21 June 1994 through Interscope Records. It followed Meantime from 1992, whose success meant critics and fans were waiting eagerly for the next move. The line-up changed this time: Rob Echeverria, previously of the New York hardcore band Rest in Pieces, took over guitar from Peter Mengede. He left in 1995 to join Biohazard, on friendlier terms than Mengede's exit.
It remains Helmet's highest-charting album in the US. "Milquetoast" was the big hit, and an alternate version, titled "Milktoast", had already turned up on The Crow soundtrack. Its video was in regular rotation on MTV, and "Wilma's Rainbow" and "Biscuits for Smut" also got videos. The record blends alternative metal with post-hardcore and noise rock, and in 2015 the band toured it, playing the whole album live.
