Aftertaste
Aftertaste is the fourth studio album by American alternative metal band Helmet, released on 18 March 1997 through Interscope Records. It follows Betty, the band's 1994 record, and arrived after guitarist Rob Echeverria left to join Biohazard. That left Helmet as a trio for the sessions, with Page Hamilton playing all the guitar parts alongside drummer John Stanier and bassist Henry Bogdan.
It is worth hearing as the last album to feature that original rhythm section, and for its change of direction. Where Betty explored experimental and jazz-leaning ideas, Aftertaste returns to the tighter sound of the band's earlier work. Reactions at the time were mixed and sales were modest, and it went out of print in 2006. Chris Traynor, formerly of Orange 9mm, joined for the touring that followed.
