Wiser for the Time
Wiser for the Time is a live album by the Black Crowes, released in 2013 on Silver Arrow. It was recorded over a five-night run in New York City in 2010, while the band were touring Croweology, and it arrived as a vinyl and download release. It was their fifth live record and the first since Warpaint Live in 2009, marking their return from a hiatus.
The set is split between fifteen acoustic recordings and eleven electric ones, so you get the southern rock band in two quite different modes. Among their own songs sit four covers: the Flying Burrito Brothers' "Hot Burrito #1" and "Hot Burrito #2", Little Feat's "Willin'" and Bob Dylan's "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You". Those choices say a good deal about the country-rock lineage the Crowes draw on.
