Whisky in the Jar
Whisky in the Jar is a compilation from the Irish rock band Thin Lizzy, released by Spectrum Music on 18 March 1996. It gathers material from the early part of their career, and it takes its title from the folk song they turned into a hard rock number.
The record sits in the band's story before the run of albums that followed, which stretched from their 1971 debut through to Thunder and Lightning in 1983. Its blend of folk rock and hard rock gives a good sense of where the band began. Note that the same track listing appeared in several versions from different record companies, each with its own cover, and that other Thin Lizzy compilations share this title with different songs, so check the track listing before buying.
