BBC Radio 1: Live in Concert
BBC Radio 1: Live in Concert captures Thin Lizzy at the 1983 Reading Festival, recorded near the end of their farewell tour. The Irish hard rock band had been working towards a close, and this show was originally meant to be their final concert. It came out in October 1992 on the BBC Radio 1 label.
The date matters to the band's story. Thin Lizzy officially split in 1983, but they did play more shows afterwards, including the Monsters of Rock festival in Germany a week later. A similar line-up then toured as Grand Slam in 1984 and 1985, before Phil Lynott died in 1986. For anyone who knows the studio run from Thin Lizzy through to Thunder and Lightning, this is a chance to hear the group on stage as that chapter wound down.
