Bad Reputation is Thin Lizzy's eighth studio album, released on 2 September 1977 through Mercury Records. It follows Jailbreak and Johnny the Fox, both from 1976, and sits in the middle of the band's run of 1970s albums, blending hard rock with touches of blues rock and heavy metal.

The cover tells half the story: most tracks feature only three-quarters of the band. Guitarist Brian Robertson is credited on just three songs, having missed much of the previous tour after injuring his hand in a brawl. It turned out to be his last studio album with the band, which gives the record a particular place in the Thin Lizzy story. A remastered and expanded edition followed on 27 June 2011, a good way in for anyone wanting to hear it again.
