Somewhere Under Wonderland
Somewhere Under Wonderland is the seventh studio album by Counting Crows, released on 2 September 2014 by Capitol Records. It was the American band's first collection of new, original songs since Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings in 2008, and their first release on Capitol. In between came Underwater Sunshine (or What We Did on Our Summer Vacation) in 2012, so this marked a return to writing their own material after a spell away from it.
The record sits comfortably in the band's rock, alternative rock, folk rock and roots rock tradition, the mix that has defined them since August and Everything After in 1993. Critics responded warmly to it, which makes it a good place to start for anyone who drifted away after the early records and wants to hear where the band had arrived by the mid-2010s.
