Counting Crows are an American rock band from Berkeley, California, formed in 1991 and still going. Adam Duritz fronts the band, with Charlie Gillingham on keyboards, David Immerglück on multiple instruments and guitarists David Bryson and Dan Vickrey alongside. Their sound draws on alternative rock, folk rock, pop rock and Americana.

Their debut, August and Everything After (1993), brought the breakthrough single "Mr. Jones" and sold more than seven million copies in the US. It earned two Grammy nominations the following year. Recovering the Satellites went to number one on the Billboard 200, and This Desert Life and Hard Candy are among the records fans still return to. Other well-known songs include "Rain King", "A Long December" and their cover of "Big Yellow Taxi". "Accidentally in Love", from Shrek 2, earned an Oscar nomination. Over 20 million albums sold, and they have a strong live reputation.
