Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette is a Canadian and American singer-songwriter who began her career in Canada in the early 1990s with two dance-pop albums, Alanis in 1991 and Now Is the Time in 1992. After moving to Los Angeles, she changed course completely. Her emotive mezzo-soprano and confessional lyrics made her one of the defining voices of 1990s alternative rock.

Jagged Little Pill, released in 1995, is the record that made her name. It became one of the best-selling albums of all time and won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. It produced "You Oughta Know", "Hand in My Pocket" and "Ironic". Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie followed in 1998 with a more experimental sound. She produced Under Rug Swept (2002) entirely herself, and Flavors of Entanglement (2008) is also among her best-known albums. She has kept releasing music into the 2020s.
