Havoc and Bright Lights
Havoc and Bright Lights is Alanis Morissette's eighth studio album, or her sixth if you count only the releases made worldwide. It came out on 22 August 2012 and was her first record for Collective Sounds, ending a run with Maverick Records that had begun in 1995. Sony handled distribution in most territories, with Universal looking after Canada and Japan, and RED Distribution covering the US.
Guy Sigsworth, who had produced Flavors of Entanglement in 2008, returned to work alongside Joe Chiccarelli. The first single was "Guardian". Reviews were mixed: some listeners warmed to the softer tones and the production, while others felt it was overproduced and the lyrics lacked bite. It is a worthwhile listen if you want to hear how Morissette sounded once she had left the label that launched her.
