…And Out Come the Wolves
…And Out Come the Wolves is Rancid's third studio album, released on 22 August 1995 on Epitaph. It followed their self-titled debut in 1993 and Let's Go in 1994. By this point the band's catchy songs had sparked a major-label bidding war, which they settled by staying with Epitaph. The title nods to the situation, borrowed from a poem in Jim Carroll's The Basketball Diaries.
The sound leans heavily on ska, echoing the Operation Ivy days of Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman. "Roots Radicals", "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" all charted on Modern Rock Tracks and brought the band their heaviest MTV and radio play so far. The record went gold in January 1996 and platinum in 2004. Alongside albums by Green Day, The Offspring and Bad Religion, it helped bring punk back into the mainstream, and Rancid played it in full on their 2015–2016 tour.
