S&M Airlines is NOFX's second studio album, released in September 1989 and following Liberal Animation from the year before. It was the band's first record for Epitaph, the label founded by Brett Gurewitz, who also produced it. The whole thing was recorded and mixed in just six days at Westbeach Recorders.

Fat Mike regards it as the first proper NOFX album, and you can hear why: the band lean towards a more melodic, metallic sound, with Bad Religion and Rich Kids on LSD clearly in the mix as influences. Gurewitz and Bad Religion's Greg Graffin turn up on the closing cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" and add harmonies elsewhere. A video was made for the title track. It sold 3,500 copies on release, but it marks the point where NOFX's identity really took shape.
