Album
Louder Than Love
Louder Than Love is Soundgarden's second studio album and their major-label debut, released by A&M Records on 5 September 1989. It followed Ultramega OK, after which the band toured, left SST and signed with A&M. The songs lean towards metal within a grunge framework, and some of them use unusual or unorthodox time signatures.
It became the band's first album to reach the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 108, and was the first grunge record to appear on that chart. "Big Dumb Sex" and other lyrics earned it a Parental Advisory sticker. It is also the last Soundgarden album with original bassist Hiro Yamamoto, which makes it worth hearing as a snapshot of the early line-up before Badmotorfinger.
