Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse
Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse is Skinny Puppy's album of 5 September 1986, released through Capitol Records. It is often counted as their second studio album, following Bites in 1985 and coming before Cleanse Fold and Manipulate in 1987. The sound sits in industrial and electro-industrial territory, built on electronics and a dark, post-industrial edge.
The single "Dig It" is the track to know. It got heavy airplay on MTV, earned a place on Billboard's recommended dance tracks, and influenced industrial contemporaries including Nine Inch Nails. "Stairs and Flowers" was also issued as a single. The sleeve has its own story: Steven R. Gilmore's cover photo came from a pornographic film that turned up on a New York hotel television, and Tipper Gore later cited it on a Parents Music Resource Center list as an argument for parental advisory stickers.
