The Process
The Process is the eighth studio album by Canadian industrial band Skinny Puppy, released on 27 February 1996 through American Recordings. It blends industrial, electronic and experimental sounds with rock, and it arrived four years after Last Rights, which was the previous record in their run.
It is also a record shaped by loss and upheaval. Keyboardist Dwayne Goettel died near the end of the recording, and the sessions were troubled, with the label interfering along the way. It was the band's last album before they reformed in 2000, and the next, The Greater Wrong of the Right, did not appear until 2004. For anyone following Skinny Puppy's story, it marks a hard turning point and is worth hearing in that light.
