Undisputed Attitude
Undisputed Attitude is Slayer's seventh studio album, released through American Recordings in May 1996. Rather than a set of new songs, it is a covers record, drawing almost entirely on punk and hardcore. The Stooges, Minor Threat, T.S.O.L., D.R.I., D.I. and Dr. Know all get a turn, and Verbal Abuse are represented by three songs, more than any other band.
It sits as an unusual detour between Divine Intervention and Diabolus in Musica, a look at the punk roots behind the band's speed. Two tracks come from Pap Smear, a side project of guitarist Jeff Hanneman, written in 1984 and 1985. The closing "Gemini" is the only new Slayer original. It reached number 34 on the Billboard 200, and it makes a good listen for anyone curious how hardcore sounds when Slayer play it.
