Live Undead is Slayer's first live album, released through Metal Blade Records in November 1984. It sits between their debut, Show No Mercy, and Hell Awaits, and it draws its set from that first album and the Haunting the Chapel EP from 1984. The record opens with an extended introduction to "Black Magic", followed by a short speech.

The recording has an odd story. A New York radio show, WBAB Fingers Metal Shop, ran a contest to hang out with the band during a live session at Tiki Recording Studios in Glen Cove. Only around a dozen people were there, after plans for a proper crowd went wrong. Critics and authors have long wondered whether the audience noise is real, and producer Bill Metoyer has only teased that he doesn't know if he should say.
