Haunting the Chapel is a three-song EP from American thrash band Slayer, put out in June 1984 on Metal Blade. It followed their debut album Show No Mercy, which had become the label's biggest seller and encouraged producer Brian Slagel to want a follow-up release. The sessions took place in Hollywood and were awkward at first, since the drums were recorded in a studio with no carpet.

It is best heard as the point where Slayer's sound began to move beyond the debut towards the style of their later records, and it is often called a stepping stone. The sessions also mattered for Dave Lombardo, who had double bass added to his kit and picked up tips on using it from Gene Hoglan. "Captor of Sin" and "Chemical Warfare" both stayed in the live set, and the latter turned up in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
