Weapon

Weapon is a studio album by the Canadian electro-industrial band Skinny Puppy, released on 28 May 2013 through Metropolis Records. It arrived as their twelfth album, and it is also their last. The band had drawn wide press attention when they sent the US government a bill for using their music as torture at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, and that episode became the main spark for the record.

Musically, it looks back to the start of their story. Older equipment and simpler songwriting give it a sound close to their early releases Remission (1984) and Bites (1985). "Salvo" was streamed ahead of release on 14 May, "Illisit" received a video directed by Jason Alacrity, and several tours followed. It is worth hearing for the way it ties a pointed political theme to the band's raw beginnings.
