Tohuvabohu
Tohuvabohu is the fourteenth studio album from KMFDM, the industrial rock group, released on 21 August 2007 through Metropolis Records and the band's own KMFDM Records. It was recorded in Seattle, Washington, and follows Hau Ruck from 2005 in a catalogue that stretches back to Opium in 1984.
The title comes from a biblical Hebrew phrase meaning "without form and void", used to describe the earth before creation. The band take it to mean something wild and chaotic, which suits the record's spirit. One track, "Superpower", is built from samples of phone calls that fans left on a line the band set up for the purpose, so listeners had a hand in the sound. More of those calls turn up on "What We Do For You", a track on Brimborium, the companion remix album.
