HanDover
HanDover is the eleventh studio album by Canadian electro-industrial band Skinny Puppy, released in October 2011. It follows Mythmaker (2007) and sits just before Weapon (2013) in their catalogue. The band began work on it in 2008, originally aiming to deliver a noise record in the spirit of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music in time for their 2009 tour.
Then their label, SPV, ran into insolvency trouble, leaving the album's future in doubt. The tour went ahead as In Solvent See, and Ogre has linked the title to the handing over of albums and assets during that upheaval. Some of the noise material grew into "Brownstone" and "Noisex", while other ideas fed the ohGr album unDeveloped. "Ashas" is dedicated to Sasha Coon, a former live crew member and friend of the band who died in early 2011. It is a record shaped by delay and loss, which gives it a character of its own.
